Though the Movenpick complex was founded in 1999, it seems much more ancient due to its inspiration from the old villages of the Jordanian desert. The Movenpick Resort & Spa of the Dead Sea is the latest of 44 hotels owned by Movenpick. The Dead Sea location focuses on its most unique asset – the high salt concentration of the water, said to contain healing properties. Accordingly, the Movenpick offers activities such as mud and flotation rejuvenation, and yoga-balance sessions, meditation and relaxation rituals at the Dead Sea shore. As for spa treatments, Movenpick & Dead Sea houses the Sanctuary Zara Spa, run by the UK’s Sanctuary Spa Group. This spa deserves more then ever the designation of Sanctuary because the healers who ran out of cures can find here a new inspiration in a luxurious environment, far away from the heat and the daily stress.

The visuals of the Sanctuary Zara Spa are traditional Arab architecture contrasting with modern features like the terrace pool, with its infinity edge looking onto the Dead Sea. Also popular are the spa’s thermariums, each providing a hot dry room, a warm steam room, soap massage room, and tropical rain showers mint perfumed. Here, the cure of beauty and reshaping permits to profit from the natural resources of the Dead Sea. More then 70 treatments are available.

The specialty of the spa is the mud therapy: In one of the care rooms diamond shaped, the mud and the huge salt granules, mixed with essential oils, are applied on the body. This treatment helps eliminating the dead cells of the body. This deep cleansing leaves your skin extremely soft. In addition, you can experience several hydrotherapy suites, with dry flotation baths, shower massages, and hydrotherapy massage baths. To benefit the most from the environment, the thermal center recommends passing 10 minutes, 5 times per day in the sea. These baths permits to the body to absorb all the minerals he requires.

The spa’s “tranquility room” has views of the sea from the room’s arched windows and veranda. More conventional spa treatments include a manicure and pedicure room and facials. The spa, as well as the rest of the 340 room resort, emphasizes its indoor – outdoor environment.
