Muscat :: Salalah :: Khasab

Day 01:

Arrive in Muscat and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Muscat.

Day 02:
After breakfast, transfer to Seeb International airport for flight to Khasab. Transfer to the hotel. Departure for a half day four wheel drive excursion to Jebel Harim. The tour, return to hotel for overnight.

Day 03:
After breakfast, departure for a full day Dhow (traditional Omani boat) Cruise with lunch on board to see the captivating Fjords of the Musandam region. Back to the hotel. Rest of the evening at leisure. Overnight in Khasab.

Day 04:
After breakfast, transfer to Khasab airport for flight to Muscat. Stay in transit until time to board the flight to Salalah. After arrival, transfer to the hotel for overnight.

Day 05:
The breakfast is followed by a full day tour of Salalah East and West. Visit the fishing village of Taqa, an old town with an interesting Castle surrounded by watch towers and the Taqa stone houses. Proceed to Khor Rouri creek, the site of the ruined city of Samhuram (excluding Thursdays and Fridays), and capital of ancient Arabia’s exotic frankincense trade. Excavations have produced evidence of an ancient city with trade links by sea to Far Eastern destinations and with even distant Greece. Mirbat, the ancient capital of Dhofar province, was an important town as early as the 19th century for its trade in frankincense, horses and slaves. See some of the old houses famous for its wood carvings.
One of Dhofar’s best known historic sites is Bin Ali’s Tomb. The twin domed structure, tomb of Mohamed Bin Ali who died in 1135 AD is a fine example of medieval architecture. Return via Ain Razat (on Thursdays and Fridays only), manicured gardens fed by natural underground springs. Lunch is taken at a local restaurant en route. Visit the Biblical “Nabi Ayoub or Prophet Job” tomb perched high up in the Jebel (mountain). Proceed to Mughsail Beach to see the “Blow-Holes”, perforations in the limestone rock through which sea water gushes out during high tide. At the nearby bird sanctuary, one may see seasonal birds. The stark shape of leafless Frankincense trees dot the landscape. Once traded as a commodity more precious than gold, frankincense harvested in Dhofar is rated the best in the world. Return to Salalah for overnight in hotel.

Day 06:
After breakfast, morning is free at leisure. Check out from hotel and transfer to Kashab airport for flight to Muscat. After arrival transfer to your hotel. An evening half day tour of Muscat city. Visit the Grand Mosque (except Thursdays and Fridays). Drive along the waterfront Corniche visiting the Fish Market and the colorful Muttrah Souk. Proceed for a photo stop to the magnificent Al Alam Palace, the official palace of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, flanked by the 16the century Portuguese forts, Mirani and Jalali. Back to the hotel and overnight in Muscat.

Day 07:
After breakfast, transfer to Seeb International airport for flight to your next destination.
